Utrecht flow-through station

The goal of this project is to increase the capacity of Utrecht Station in the context of the High Frequency Rail project. The principles for the development of a flow-through station are: design based on fixed train flows with the associated adjustment strategy; shortening headway and travel time by increasing train speed from 40 km/h to 80 km/h; increasing availability and reliability by 50%; reducing maintenance costs by removing switches. The final layout was established in 2011. Attica provides direction for the detailed design, the phasing of construction, the specification and the planning. The project will be completed at the end of 2015.
