Sri-Lanka network extension Matara-Belliata (2019)
During 3 months, interrupted by a period of two months due to local unrest, Attica Advies in Sri Lanka has commissioned one existing site and four new sites as part of the Matara - Belliata project.
This project, part of the new Silk Road, concerned a 35 km extension of the railway line along the side coast of Sri Lanka. Together with a team of Indonesian specialists, a total of 5 interlockiing systems, equipped with the ELIXS SIL4 computer (Alstom), were fully tested, put into operation and handed over to the Sri Lanka railways. In the 35 km there are also 12 intersections with level crossing barriers, equiped with a so called crossing predictor which was also part of the project. The project is scheduled to be commissioned on 8 April 2019.
The other components were an extension of the traffic control system and the addition of all stations to the existing communication network.
In the context of this assignment, the following commissioning was carried out:
- 5 new locations, Matara, Kekanadura, Bambaranda, Werukanala,
Belliata.
- 12 new crossing installation with level crossing predictor.
