System Improvement Rotterdam Metro
Part of the metro network in Rotterdam passes 21 level crossings. This metro is legally a high speed tram, but completely laid out on its own track.
Many of these intersections are equipped with level crossing
barriers, but the speed of the subway at the intersection is
limited to 50km/h. The installed level crossings are at the end of
their lifespan. In 2017, RET started a project to increase the
safety of the existing crossings and replace all crossings for new
"standard" crossings, to adapt the priority of the metro at the
intersection and to increase the speed over a part of the
route.
The Attica consultants are involved in the preparation of
specifications and contracts, project management, safety
management, systems engineering and coordination with internal and
external operational parties.
