Operational Integration Zevenaar-Emmerich
The connection between Zevenaar and Oberhausen forms an important part of the rail corridor from Rotterdam to Genoa. The construction of a third track will enable future growth of passenger and freight traffic.
In the border area, the challenge for ProRail and Deutsche Bahn is to connect track, rail and systems (including the 25 kV traction energy system, interlocking system and ERTMS).
Attica provided the interface management for the operational integration. The result of this is the adaptation of operational processes and procedures so that the involved employees of ProRail, Deutsche Bahn and railway operators can cope with the changed technology.
The agreements in this respect have been laid down in the 'Border Line Section Agreement': for normal operations, disruptions, maintenance and the handling of accidents.
Attica has adopted adopting a systematic approach. This ensures that the European regulations for safety proofing are correctly followed: the Common Safety Method for Risk Analysis (CSM-RA). Not only for changes in technology, but also for procedural and organisational changes.
